故事开始于十五年前。稻村小春（田中裕子 饰）有一段非常不幸的婚姻，她的丈夫是一个不折不扣的酒鬼加暴力狂，当这个男人试图将暴力发泄在他们的三个孩子身上时，身为母亲的小春再也无法忍耐和坐视不管了，为了保护孩子们，她亲手杀死了丈夫，锒铛入狱，也就此改变了稻村一家人的命运。。在一所临海别墅里，住着Charlie（查理·辛 Charlie Sheen 饰）和Alan（乔恩·克莱尔 Jon Cryer 饰）兄弟俩，一个是花花公子作曲家，身边总有穿梭不断的美女；一个是离婚后被老婆赶出来的按摩师，只能寄居在哥哥家里。这两个单身汉的生活里还有一个小小的“好汉”——Alan的儿子Jake（安加斯·T·琼斯 Angus T.
