电影通过三个普通人的视角来描写人性的困境，三位美国女子布伦达、艾仑和苏，结伴去海地旅行，观光圣地、风景优美的海地来寻找放松和激情。但是她们却发现了这个天堂岛屿背后的贫穷和危险，目睹了当地的贫困生活和严酷的政权，深深被震撼。。Thomas因年幼时父母被暴徒杀害而心灵受创，他父亲生前的朋友Joe收养了他，视其如儿子般把他养大。有一天Joe突然神秘地提出要让Thomas去威尼斯他父亲生前的另一个朋友有黑手党背景的Nicola开的酒店（Hotel Laguna）学习经营管理。Nicola热情地接待了Thomas，但是Nicola美丽的妻子Thelma却对Thomas很冷淡。其实Thelma冷淡的外表下包含着对Thomas的怜爱，并且她和Thomas的感情迅速演变为给两人带来杀身之险的爱情。与此同时，Thomas也逐步揭开了当年他父母被害的真相，原来这一切都与Nicola有关···。Two places are in focus in this soap.
