影片讲述洪水淹没世界，猫猫爬上了一艘帆船，由此开启了一段非凡的旅程。在旅途中，它先后邂逅了水豚、狗狗、狐猴、蛇鹫等动物。性格迥异的它们从彼此看不顺眼到并肩作战，共同面对重重困难。。本片又译作《党同伐异》，是D．W．格里菲思最具创作野心的作品。由于受到《国家的诞生》惊人卖座的影响，格里菲思遂再接再励拍摄一部场面更大，内容更有深度的影片。他花了一年半的时间，动用了二百万美元的制作费，拍摄成片长220分的巨片（原版长480分）。该片讲述了由4段相隔数千年互不相关的故事连缀而成 ：《母与法》、《基督受难》、《圣巴托洛缪大屠杀》和《巴比伦的陷落》。故事虽不相关，但反映了一个共同的主题：祈求和平，反对党同伐异。。Tin Men is one of my favorite movies of all time. The thing that always strikes me whenever I watch this movie is that while the characters of Richard Dreyfuss and Danny DeVito are seemingly feuding non-stop throughout the movie, in reality they are actually kindred spirits.
